Welcome To Our Farm

We are a family-owned and operated honeyberry orchard located in the Northern Okanagan of British Columbia, Canada. Our goal is to produce high quality, great-tasting honeyberries and products. With a dedication to sustainable and regenerative growing practices, we believe that maintaining the health of our soil will be the key to achieving this goal.

What's a Honeyberry?

Lonicera caerulea is known as Hasukappu in Japan, and Blue Honeysuckle Berry, or just “Honeyberry” in North America. Of the Honeyberry varieties cultivated in North America, the “Haskap” varieties are judged to be the highest quality and the best tasting, and they’re cultivated right here in Canada! Native to northern boreal forests of Asia, Europe and North America, Honeyberries boast an impressive nutritional profile. High in Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2 and B6, and minerals potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, copper, zinc, magnesium, and manganese. Honeyberries also have very high amounts of anthocyanins, most of which consist of C3G (Cyanidin-3-Glucoside). Anthocyanins are one of the most potent antioxidants found in plants and are what causes these nutritious berries to have a deep blue pigment. Research with Honeyberries are ongoing, but anthocyanins have been found to help fight inflammation, and promote cardiovascular and optical health. There's a reason why Honeyberries are historically known as "the fruit of longevity" and "the fruit of vision" in Japan.

Eat Healthy

Honeyberries have a distinct flavour with a sweet and tart “zing” finish that will have you reaching for more; if you’re not careful you could end up with purple lips and a new favourite berry! The juice from these little blue berries is a deep crimson that gives any dish incredible colour. Try Honeyberries today—your taste buds and your immune system will thank you.

Grow Naturally

Nature Knows Best

Our approach to growing healthy, delicious berries is simple: use natural systems to our advantage by allowing nature to work as intended. Inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka, the author of The One-Straw Revolution, our orchard is designed to enable the plants to grow and develop naturally. We don’t use any synthetic fertilizers or sprays, and we are proudly Certified Naturally Grown. Our methods include the use of no-till practices, cover cropping, composting with Johnson-Su Bioreactors, and natural mulches. Our plants have everything they need to produce quality, healthy berries—naturally.

Our Story

Family Owned and Operated

Honey Berry Haven was established and planted with a mix of Haskap and Honeyberry varieties in 2016, but "The Farm" has been in the family since 1963. Formerly a dairy farm, Honey Berry Haven is now an orchard that focuses on sustainable and regenerative growing practices. This land has been in our family for four generations, and we hope that when we pass it on to our children, it will be even more fertile and productive than it is now.
